Last night I danced
with the nine foot goddess
and her sister
who’d abandoned her shoes.
We danced on the lights
that freckled the floor
with one hundred eyes
locked on our grace.
Last night I danced
with giant angels
with big full lips
and nervous hands
They fiddled the locks
of their cascading wigs
with flashing eyes
wanting and dreading
Those eyes were darting
battered thick
with black midnight
and false lashes.
Last night I danced
I danced and I danced
and when the angels retired
I asked them to dance again.
